My Library Is… Podcasting!

On October 2, 2024, Green Hills Public Library District launched its latest initiative – a podcast!  Entitled Checked Out, this monthly podcast dives into discussions about film, television, music, video games, and of course – books.

The concept was initiated several months prior, and once approved, staff got to work.  From content discussions to technical training and marketing strategies, there was a lot to do.  Our three staff hosts; Sara Shahein, Tessa Werden, and Klaudia Gorgon; worked diligently to bring the idea to fruition, overseen by Head of Youth Services Natalie Djordjevic.  With perspectives from staff in our Adult and Youth Services Departments, our goal is to foster vibrant discussions that resonate with teens, adults, and seniors alike.

We are proud to have over 100 listens on our pilot episode and plan to keep the momentum going.  Listeners can expect a variety of content including favorite titles, pop culture insights, upcoming events, and guest appearances from other staff.  Checked Out is available for free on popular streaming platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube, and the Library’s website.

With the rising popularity of podcasts, GHPLD sees this as an innovative way to connect with the community and support its mission of lifelong learning.
